He made his professional debut in 1990 and became best known for his time with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
He was a junior champion in judo before turning his focus to wrestling.
In 1995 he won his first of many IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championships.
In 2009, he got engaged to wrestler Hikaru. They eventually split up.
In 2013 he made his first appearance in Wrestle-1, a promotion started by Keiji Mutoh.
