Khalil Alwazir

Palestinian politician who co-founded the secular nationalist party Fatah in 1959. He has been dubbed "The Father of Struggle" by the Palestinian people.
He began his career in the 1960s as a militant leader.
In 1982, he began to sponsor youth committees in Palestinian territories ,which would grow and initiate the First Intifada, Palestinian uprising against the Israeli occupation, in December 1987.
His family was expelled from Ramla during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, at which point they became refugees.
He was Yasser Arafat's right hand man for many years.
