Best known for his role as Kazim in the 1989 movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, he also portrayed Max in a 1970s and 1980s British comedy series called Mind Your Language.
His early acting credits include the English thriller The Man Who Haunted Himself and the 1978 movie Midnight Express.
During his childhood years, he attended a seminary school in Istanbul and fell in love with acting after studying with an Oxford-educated English and drama teacher priest.
He grew up in Diyarbakir and Istanbul, Turkey, and later received his acting training at Rose Bruford College in London, England.
He appeared with Liam Neeson in the 2012 film Taken 2.
