He was the #2 punter in the country as a high school senior, according to Rivals.com. He enrolled at Michigan as a preferred walk-on.
His first points scored as a placekicker in the 2015 season for the Michigan Wolverines marked the first field goal made by a black kicker in Big Ten history. He was later signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2017.
His father is Korean.
He was named to the All-Big Ten second-team in 2016 alongside Michigan teammate Jabrill Peppers.
