Kenneth Wherry

U.S. Republican senator who represented Nebraska from 1943 to 1951. Before entering the senate he served as mayor of Pawnee City from 1929 to 1931.
He worked as a salesman for livestock, automobiles and furniture.
From 1949 to 1951, he was the Senate Minority Leader and was one of the few postwar politicians to empathize with the plight of the defeated Germans.
His parents were David Emery and Jessie Comstock.
He was a U.S. Senator who represented Nebraska; while Everett Dirksen was a U.S. Senator who represented Illinois.
