Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who gained international fame as a member of Uriah Heep.
He learned to play his first instrument, a guitar, at age 12 using a Bert Weedon manual.
He co-wrote Look at Yourself, Lady in Black, Stealin', Free Me, and Easy Livin', all hit singles.
He grew up with three sisters and one brother in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
He performed and recorded with guitarist Mick Box in the 1970s as members of Uriah Heep.
