In 2010, this United Kingdom Conservative Party politician was elected a Member of Parliament for the North Swindon constituency. Previously, he had served on the Swindon Borough Council.
While studying at Oxford Brookes University, he chaired the school's Conservative Students' Association. Several years later, he became English national chair of the U.K. Conservative Party's Conservative Future youth organization.
He lost his first parliamentary campaign to Labour Party candidate Michael Wills, being defeated by just under 2,600 votes.
He married Joanne Wheeler in 2012; they had become engaged in late 2011 while climbing Hong Kong's Victoria Peak.
He is a contemporary of fellow Conservative Party Member of Parliament Robin Walker.
