Lithuanian writer of The Year of the Lilies of the Valley. Her other widely-translated works include Two Stories About Suicide, The Day That Never Happened, and 108 Moons.
She studied at the Vilnius Art Academy.
She published six novels, a children's book, and a volume of essays.
She was raised in Vilnius, Lithuania.
She and Czeslaw Milosz were fellow Lithuanian writers.
