Julius Lothar Meyer
Chemist
German chemist who was known for competing with Dmitri Mendeleev to draw up the first periodic table of chemical elements.
He studied medicine at Zurich University in 1851 and went on to study at the University of Wurzburg.
He was the first Professor of Chemistry at the University of Tubingen in 1876.
He was born to physician Friedrich August Meyer and Anna Biermann.
His teacher of pathology at Zurich University was Rudolf Virchow.
