Known best for her roles in such United Kingdom television series as William and Mary (as Mary Gilcrest), At Home with the Braithwaites (as Megan Hartnoll), and Harry (as Alice), this Scottish-born actress also appeared in films such as Silent Scream, Some Voices, and The Big Man.
Early in her career, she acted in a 1986 episode of Blood Red Roses and in a 1987 episode of The Houseman's Tale. She went on to secure a year-long contract as Alison McGrellis on Casualty.
She guest-starred on both The Bill and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
She and her actor husband, Joseph A. Bennett, welcomed their first daughter, Edie May, in early 2004, and their second daughter, Cyd Betty, in 2006.
She and Robbie Coltrane were both in the cast of the 1990 movie Nuns on the Run.
