Judith Martin
Journalist
American journalist, advice columnist, and etiquette specialist who is best known as Miss Manners. She began publishing her their, internationally-syndicated etiquette column in 1978.
She studied English at Wellesley College and worked for a time as a theater and film critic.
Her book-length publications include Star-Spangled Manners, Miss Manners on Painfully Proper Weddings, and Style and Substance.
Her father worked as an economist for the United Nations. Her uncle was Polish historian Selig Perlman.
President George W. Bush presented Martin with the 2005 National Humanities Medal.
