American murder convict. In 1998, at the age of 14 he killed his neighbor, eight-year-old Maddie Clifton. He was tried as an adult and sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
He was reportedly described by neighbors as "quiet and friendly" before the murder.
In December 2019, the Florida First District Court of Appeal upheld his life sentence. The court said it will be reviewed again and could be modified in 2023.
His parents were Steve and Melissa Phillips. His father was a drug addict and alcoholic, and was violent towards him and his mother. In 2000, his father died in a car accident.
In 2018, he was interviewed by British journalist Susanna Reid for the ITV documentary Children Who Kill.
