Joseph L. Mankiewicz

Polish-American director and screenwriter best known for his 1950 film All About Eve. He received an Academy Award for this film, as well as for his 1949 movie A Letter to Three Wives.
He graduated from Columbia University in 1928.
His 1950 film All About Eve was nominated for fourteen Academy Awards, an unmatched accomplishment until Titanic earned the same distinction in 1997.
He married his first wife, Elizabeth Young, on May 20, 1934. He married Rose Stradner on July 28, 1939, then married Rosemary Matthews on December 14, 1962.
His brother co-wrote the 1941 film Citizen Kane, which starred Joseph Cotten.
