Engineer and Industrialist who developed the Difference engine for Charles Babbage.
He worked in a factory making looms in 1805.
He received the gold medal of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts in 1818 for his invention of marking ellipses, which was a tool that carpenters used.
He had a daughter named Sarah with his partner Agnes Esson.
He is influenced by Johannes Gutenberg.
