All-purpose offensive player for the CFL's Montreal Allouettes and the NFL's San Diego Chargers in the 1970s.
He attended the University of Nebraska, where he won the 1972 Heisman Trophy.
He was named Nebraska's Player of the Century, and was a 2000 inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame.
He was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska.
At Nebraska he played for offensive coordinator Tom Osborne.
