He learned how to play electric bass at the age of ten and went on to attend San Francisco State University and Long Beach State University for bass.
He was awarded the 1986 MVP for acoustic bass by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
He grew up in Brooklyn.
He has performed with Chick Corea's Elektric Band.
