American television broadcaster and news anchor who was a long time correspondent for NBC News.
He got his masters at Columbia University after attending Northwestern University.
He received the Merriman Smith Memorial Award for excellence in presidential news coverage in 1980 for his repot on the mismanagement of Operation Eagle Claw, which was the mission to rescue the American hostages being held in Iran.
He has three daughters with his wife Nancy.
He replaced Chris Wallace on Today in 1982.
