John Harrington

University of Minnesota Duluth walk-on who made the 1980 U.S. Olympic team and assisted the game-winning goal in the Miracle on Ice.
A standout hockey player from his high school days, he was recruited by UMD, where he played for four seasons, and then tried out for the Olympic team.
After hanging up his skates, he went to coach hockey at St. Johns for 15 years, and then moved to Switzerland and later Solvenia.
He had three sons, one of whom, Chris Harrington, played professionally for the DEG Metro Stars.
Mark Johnson was his teammate on the 1980 Miracle On Ice Olympic hockey team.
