John Eppel
Poet
A South African-born novelist, poet, and short story writer, he is best known for D G G Berry's The Great North Road (a novel) and Spoils of War (a poetry collection). His more than a dozen published works include White Man Crawling, The Giraffe Man, and The Curse of the Ripe Tomato.
He was educated at Milton High School in Bulawayo, and he later attended the University of Natal in South Africa.
His works are associated with the Post-colonialism movement.
With his wife, Shari Eppel, he had three children.
He and Wilbur Smith both lived in Zimbabwe.
