Former MLB infielder with the St. Louis Browns who became Dr. Steve Hardy on the soap opera General Hospital, staying in that role for over 30 years.
He joined the St. Louis Browns in 1939 after college, but spent 1942 to 1945 with the Navy Reserve in World War II.
After a leg injury retired him from baseball, he became a television actor, taking the role of Steve Hardy from the very first episode of General Hospital.
He was married three times and had four children.
He was a guest star on The Love Boat, starring Lauren Tewes.
