Norwegian skier who won three Olympic gold medals, winning in the cross-country 18 km and the Nordic combined events.
He first entered the Olympics in 1924 where he took two bronzes and a silver.
He won three gold medals in World Championship events to make for a total of six gold medals in International Competition.
He was the son of Einar and Bjarte Grottumsbraten.
He competed in the 1924 Olympics where skater Sonja Henie made her debut at just 11 years of age.
