Professional pitcher that was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays during the second round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He was acquired by the San Diego Padres via trade in January 2021. He was a member of the World Series-winning Houston Astros in 2017.
He began his professional career playing for the Blue Jays' rookie affiliate team the GCL Blue Jays.
He pitched his first career major league no-hitter on April 9, 2021 facing the Texas Rangers as a member of the Padres.
He is a native of El Cajon, California.
He was once packaged in a trade that included Gerrit Cole.
