Former NFL running back who left an indelible imprint on the league despite playing just two seasons. He set several Kansas City Chiefs records, including records for single-game and single-season rushing yard totals.
He was an All-American in 1979 and 1980 while playing for the Northwestern State Demons.
He died while trying to save three children from drowning a Louisiana lake in 1983. He posthumously received the Presidential Citizen's Medal for his actions.
He had three daughters with his wife, Carolyn.
He and fellow Chiefs running back Priest Holmes are both members of the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame.
