He founded one of the earliest death metal bands, known as Disincarnate.
He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2001 and again in 2011.
He was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia.
His music is influenced by metal forerunners Bruce Dickinson and Iron Maiden.
