Scottish rugby player who was a member of Scotland's national team in the 1960s and later became head coach of the team.
He began his professional career playing for Melrose RFC in the early 1960s.
He gave the speech, 'This is Your Everest,' to the British Lions team that he coached in 1997.
He married Frances Telfer in 1966.
He coached Gavin Hastings on the Scottish national team.
