American author and neuroanatomist who has studied the postmortem human brain as it relates to schizophrenia and the severe mental illnesses and founded the nonprofit Jill Bolte Taylor Brains, Inc.
She suffered a stroke in 1996 at the age of 37 and it led to her work as a scientist and author.
She was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in Time Magazine's 2008 100 list.
She grew up with her family in Louisville, Kentucky.
She appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
