He began his performing career in his late teens, after being discovered in a Los Angeles talent showcase called IMTA.
He was cast in television commercials for such companies as Gap, Old Navy, Taco Bell, and Target.
He was born in East Los Angeles to a family of Puerto Rican and Honduran heritage. In 2016, he was briefly engaged to Gabriela Ramirez.
X-Men director Bryan Singer directed Hernandez in a Coca Cola-sponsored short film called "Inspiración Latina."
