Jennifer Worth

A British nurse, she penned the bestselling series, Call of the Midwife, about her experiences as a midwife in the East End of London. Her other works, also set in London's impoverished East End during the 1950s, include Shadows of the Workhouse and Farewell to The East End.
She was trained as a nurse at Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading.
After ending her nursing career, she became a successful musician and performed throughout Europe.
She had two children, Suzannah and Juliette, with her husband, Philip Worth.
Actress Miranda Hart starred in the 2012 TV series, Call of a Midwife, which was based on Worth's memoirs.
