Played in the MLB for 18 seasons and became known as "Mr. Marlin" for his affiliation with the Florida Marlins.
He played college ball at UCLA, and was drafted as a first baseman.
He was the only member of both World Series teams for the Florida Marlins in 1997 and 2003.
He had three children with his wife Cindy.
He won his first World Series title with the Florida Marlins under the guidance of manager Jim Leyland.
