Jean Giraud

Better known by his professional names of Gir and Moebius, this French cartoonist and storyboard artist created the Blueberry western-themed comic book series and the Arzach science fiction comics and contributed to such science fiction films as Tron, The Fifth Element, and Alien.
In his late teens, he began a Far West magazine comic strip called Frank et Jeremie.
He collaborated with Stan Lee on the Eisner Award-winning Silver Surfer Marvel Comics miniseries.
He was born near Paris, France. Following his parents' 1941 divorce, he lived with his grandparents.
He was a close friend of the Japanese anime filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.
