After graduating from Camden County High School, he initially committed to Auburn University, but would spent the entirety of his college career at the University of Florida.
As a freshman at the University of Florida, he was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
He was born in Kingsland, Georgia.
He was drafted by the Lions to fill a hole left by former Detroit linebacker DeAndre Levy.
