Grand Prix motorcycle racer from 1970-1973, including in 1972 when he was the 250cc champion.
He began his career as an ice track racer, and won the Finnish championship.
He died during the fourth Grand Prix of 1973, when the rider in front of him lost control, causing a 14-rider crash that killed the first two riders.
He was born in Turku, Finland, and died at Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Italy.
He often raced against Giacomo Agostini.
