Folk singer and songwriter known for the song "Blowing This Candle Out" and the album "Compass," which won an Independent Music Award for Best Album in 2010.
She played music while attending Keele University and worked at an independent music label after graduating. She began to pursue music full-time in 2003.
Her first song was recorded with Angelo Bruschini of Massive Attack. She was a Brownie (similar to Girl Scouts in the US) growing up.
Her father was in the Royal Air Force and she was born in an RAF hospital. She has a son.
Her music has received substantial airtime on Bob Harris's BBC Radio 2 show.
