Known for being married to NFL player Ray Rice. In 2014, video surfaced of Rice knocking her unconscious in an elevator, which led to an arrest, a league suspension, and his release from the Baltimore Ravens.
She and Rice initially met when she was 16, but they didn't start dating until 2008. Their first date was at The Cheesecake Factory.
She attended Towson University and received an engagement ring and a car from Rice when she graduated.
The couple has a daughter named Rayven. Janay's parents are Danyette and Joseph Palmer. Her sister Taylor played basketball at West Virginia.
The NFL's handling of Ray Rice and his actions against his then-fiancée received heavy criticism, with much of it aimed at commissioner Roger Goodell.
