Center who helped Duke University capture an NCAA Championship in 2015, his freshman season. He was selected third overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
He helped lead Team USA to a gold medal at the 2011 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.
As a senior at Whitney Young High School, he was named the Parade National Player of the Year. In his rookie year in the NBA, he averaged 17.5 points per game.
He was born to Dacresha Lanett Benton and Chukwudi Okafor-Conley, and his aunt, Chinyere Okafor-Conley, helped raise him after his mother died. He has a sister named Jalen and brothers named Jamonte and Ashondre.
He was childhood friends with future Duke teammate Tyus Jones.
