Professional baseball player that was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers during the first round of the 2008 MLB Draft. He appeared in his first career All-Star game in 2019. In March 2021, he signed a two-year, $23.5M contract with the Houston Astros.
He began his professional career playing for the Brewers' rookie affiliate team the AZL Brewers.
He made his major league debut pitching for the Kansas City Royals during the 2012 MLB season.
He is a native of Breese, Illinois. He lives with his wife, Carissa, and their son.
During the 2017 World Baseball Classic, he won a gold medal as a member of the United States national team, playing alongside Adam Jones, Marcus Stroman and Eric Hosmer.
