Former shortstop who played for the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates.
He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1998, but signed two years later with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In his breakthrough 2004 year, he earned the Silver Slugger award, hitting .308, and was selected to the All-Star team.
He was born in Westlake Village, California.
The same year he was playing on the All-Star team, Bronson Arroyo, a former Pirate, was leading the Boston Red Sox to World Series victory.
