He joined the Arsenal Academy, the team's youth system, at the age of 9.
He was picked to play on the English national teams above his age level, competing with the U-16 team when he was 14 years of age, and then with the U-17 team at 15.
He had a son, Archie Jack Wilshere, with his girlfriend in 2011. They had a daughter named Delilah in 2013. He started dating Andriani Michael in 2015; and they married in 2017.
He and Wayne Rooney were on the cover of EA Sports' FIFA 2012 video game.
