Set Football Bowl Subdivision records for receiving yards and yards per reception at the tight end position with 1,352 and 104, respectively, while playing for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
He played his high school ball at San Antonio MacArthur high school and was being recruited as the #3 tight end in his class.
He garnered honors during his record breaking junior season such as Unanimous All-American, All-Big 12 Conference 1st Team, and CFPA National Tight End of the Year.
He was born in Plano, Texas.
He was a semi-finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award that eventually was awarded to Brandin Cooks.
