He grew up in Compton where he was singing and dancing at the age of 8.
He was a member of the R&B group B2K, and his nickname came from his grandma calling him boogie due to his love for dancing.
He has three children with his longtime girlfriend Jondelle Michelle Lee.
His cousin is R&B singer Marques Houston, who was a member of the group IMx from 1992 to 2001.
