Isamu Akasaki
Physicist
Japanese scientist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2014 for his creation of energy-saving sources of white light. He was also the recipient of many other distinguished honors, including the Order of Culture from the Japanese Emperor.
He earned a degree in Electronics from Nagoya University in 1964.
The royalties earned from his inventions led to the construction of the Nagoya University Akasaki Institute.
He married a woman named Ryoko.
He and Higgs boson discoverer Peter Higgs both became recipients of the Nobel Prize in Physics.
