She was born in Kobe, but her family moved to Tokyo, where she was raised.
She was graduated from Musashino Academia Musicae in 1975.
She occasionally performed with her sister Mayumi Hashimoto.
She and fellow Japanese singer Mika Nakashima were contemporaries.
