British actor who worked with HBO as a cast member of their fantasy series Game of Thrones and His Dark Materials. He portrayed Kevan Lannister and Librarian Scholar Charles in the shows, respectively. He also starred as Mr. Dekker in the third series of Torchwood.
His credits on stage dated back to 1972. He also acted on the stage early and often in his career.
He portrayed Marcus Andronicus, brother of Titus in the revival of the 2006 production of Titus Andronicus at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. He starred in a BBC4 monologue called Queers: I Miss the War in 2017.
His partner in life is fellow actor Ben Daniels. They met in 1993 during a production of Entertaining Mr Sloane.
He played the younger brother of Charles Dance's character of Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones.
