Howard Nemerov
Poet
Two-time United States Poet Laureate who wrote The Salt Garden and The Image of the Law, among other works. For The Collected Poems of Howard Nemerov, he won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.
He attended Harvard University and later served in World War II with both the Royal Canadian Air Force and the U.S. Army Air Forces.
His their sonnet, "A Primer of the Daily Round," appears in numerous literary anthologies.
His sister was the renowned photographer Diane Nemerov Arbus. His father, art historian Alexander Nemerov, taught at Stanford University.
He was influenced by the work of Dylan Thomas.
