Howard Finkel
Sportscaster
Longtime ring announcer for Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation.
He was an usher at the New Haven Coliseum in Connecticut, when he persuaded Vince McMahon Sr., president of what was then the World Wide Wrestling Federation, to give him an announcing audition.
He became the WWE's longest-tenured employee, going back to its WWWF days, and became credited for suggesting the WrestleMania event name.
He was born in Newark, New Jersey.
He became involved in wrestling feuds on occasions - for example, taking the side of Chris Jericho when he had a problem with Ken Shamrock.
