She was named to the United States ski team at just 14.
She became the first American to win a World Junior Championships downhill title.
She had to move away from her parents in order to compete in the World Junior Championships.
She and Idaho-born skiier Picabo Street have both been inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame.
