Zambian fine artist, sculptor, and printmaker whose best-known works included "Mother Afrika" and "The Beggar." He was possibly the most their painter to hail from Zambia.
He received a German Academic Exchange Service scholarship to study at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
He worked tirelessly to promote indigenous African art and crafts in Zambia.
He was born into the British Colony of Northern Rhodesia, which was a stone's throw from the historic Nsalu rock and cave paintings. He married Regina Mary Birungi Kivubiro in 1971.
He was influenced by Michelangelo.
