His best known songs included Sunday in the Park, Sing Me a Song with Social Significance, When We Meet Again, and All of a Sudden My Heart Sings.
He fathered a son named Joshua.
He wrote the music and lyrics to the 1962 musical I Can Get It for You Wholesale in which Barbra Streisand made her Broadway debut.
