Perhaps most well known for his Viareggio Prize-winning, avant-garde short story collection Centuria (1979), this Italian fiction writer, essayist, translator, journalist, and literary critic is also remembered for nearly fifty other works, including Agli Dei Ulteriori (1972) and La Letteratura Come Menzogna (1967).

Before Fame

In the 1960s, while a member of an experimental writers' society called Gruppo 63, he penned and published an early-career work titled Hilarotragoedia.

Trivia

Several of his most their works were translated into English by Henry Martin.

Family Life

He spent his youth in Milan, Italy, and died in Rome at the age of sixty-seven.
