Georges Perec
Novelist
French novelist and filmmaker well known for his experimental and constrained writing. He wrote a novel called La disparition, a novel written without the letter 'e'.
He studied history and sociology at the Sorbonne and began writing for several well known French publications.
After winning the Prix Médicis for La Vie mode d'emploi, he was brought on as a writer in residence at the University of Queensland, Australia.
He was married to Paulette Petras.
He was a member of the Oulipo movement, which also influenced artist Sophie Calle.
